Tattoo Glossary — S
Saniderm (Second Skin)
A transparent medical-grade adhesive film applied over a fresh tattoo to protect it during initial healing. Can be worn for 3-7 days, keeping the tattoo moist and protected from contaminants.
In detail
Saniderm and similar second-skin films (Tegaderm, Dermalize) have become widely used in modern aftercare. They allow the tattoo to breathe while protecting from bacteria and friction. The film collects plasma and some ink initially, which is normal.
